Sting Operation Twist in Bengal Assembly Elections, Humayun Kabir, Asaduddin Owaisi Break Alliance, Will Mamta Banerjee Benefit, Check

A sting video row and the Owaisi–Kabir alliance rift have shaken Bengal elections. The split may divide Muslim votes, potentially benefiting Mamata Banerjee, but the final outcome depends on ground-level voter response.

Bengal Assembly Election 2026: Just before the 2026 Assembly Elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released a sting-style video that went after opposition leader Humayun Kabir. This caused a political storm in West Bengal.

The party in power says the video shows Kabir taking a lot of money to get Muslim voters to vote for him and hurt TMC’s support base. The accusation has quickly worse relation between the state’s political parties.

Claims and Counterclaims by TMC and BJP

TMC says that the money was meant to help Kabir and his party change how people vote in places where Muslims are the majority. TMC has also brought the BJP into the argument in an indirect way by saying that there is a bigger political plan behind the move.

Opposition leaders have dismissed the claims, saying that the video was released at a time when it would get a lot of attention and hurt credibility just before the elections.

The Owaisi-Kabir Alliance Ends Before 2026 Assembly Election

The political drama is getting worse because the alliance between Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Kabir’s Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) is said to have gotten weaker.

The two leaders had worked together before to run for more than one seat in order to get more Muslim votes. But the alliance looks weak because of recent disagreements and differences in strategy.

What it means for the Muslim Vote in West Bengal

Bengal Assembly Election 2026: People in Murshidabad, Malda, and South 24 Parganas may vote differently because of the argument and split in the alliance.

If the opposition splits, it could also split Muslim votes, which was seen as a threat to TMC’s power in these areas. People who are interested in politics think that this split could help Mamata Banerjee’s party in a roundabout way. The TMC is likely to win if the opposition can’t work together.
