Stormy Winter Sessions to Begin from Today in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka, & MP Assemblies

State Assemblies: It will be a hectic day for the political leaders on Monday as the Winter session of the assemblies will start in five states. The first day of the winter assembly sessions for Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Gujarat will be held in session. It’s interesting that in virtually all of them, it will be a stormy day.

The Purpose of the Maharashtra Assembly Session

Outrage over Governor Koshyari’s comments about Shivaji Maharaj and the continuing border dispute with Karnataka are likely to take center stage during the Maharashtra legislature session.

Shivaji Maharaj was recently referred to as a “hero of the past” by Maharashtra Governor Koshyari, which sparked a debate in the political sphere.

In response to his remarks, Koshyari’s ouster was demanded by the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and other parties during a sizable Halla Bol morcha on Saturday in Mumbai against the Eknath Shinde-BJP alliance government.

Ajit Pawar, the head of the opposition in the state house, has urged that recent conversations between the chief ministers of both states and Union Home Minister Amit Shah be made public in relation to the Karnataka border problem.

Assembly Meeting in Karnataka

About five months before the state’s election, the Karnataka Assembly will hold its winter session. It is anticipated that the Belagavi session would feature lengthy rounds of discussion on a variety of topics.

The opening day of the session is likely to be dominated by the ongoing border conflict with Maharashtra, and the opposition may try to pin the Bommai administration down on issues like scandals involving fraud in various agencies and voter data theft, among other things.

Arguments between the government and the opposition over the Mangaluru cooker explosion, “anti-Hindu” remarks, and the BJP administration’s decision to increase SC and ST reservation from 3 to 7 percent and 15 to 17 percent, respectively, are likely to arise.

Madhya Pradesh Legislature

During the winter session of the Assembly, which starts on Monday, the opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh would introduce a no-confidence resolution against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan administration, according to a senior lawmaker, as reported by PTI.

While the BJP intends to pressure the administration on the alleged mining scandal, the Jharkhand High Court-adopted recruitment policy, and the 1932 Khatiyan-based domicile policy.

The Sahibganj murder, in which a man is said to have sliced his wife to pieces, could also be discussed.

The Jharkhand Assembly’s winter session starts on Monday, therefore the ruling and opposition parties had separate meetings here on Sunday to plan their approaches.

The BJP-led Opposition is likely to decide to corner the government on a number of problems, including corruption, peace and order, and recruitment policy, making the five-day session, which will end on December 23, tense.

The ruling coalition of JMM, Congress, and RJD is, nevertheless, confident in its ability to provide appropriate answers to the queries posed by the Opposition in the House.

Assembly session in Gujarat

On the first day of the two-day session, the newly-elected MLAs of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will take their oath of office.

The elections for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will take place on Tuesday, an official told PTI.

Yogesh Patel, the senior-most BJP MLA and pro-tem speaker of the 15th Legislative Assembly, will give the 182 MLAs their oath of office on Monday in the state capital Gandhinagar, according to DM Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Assembly, in a statement to PTI.

Shankar Chaudhary and Jethabhai Bharwad have been named as candidates for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively, by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which recently won the state by a landslide.

There are 11 former ministers among the newcomers. Kanu Desai, Rishikesh Patel, Raghvji Patel, Balvantsinh Rajput, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Mulu Bera, Kuber Dindor, and Bhanuben Babariya are among the cabinet ministers. Jagdish Vishwakarma and Harsh Sanghvi were sworn in as ministers of state with separate portfolios.

Parshottam Solanki, Bachu Khabad, Mukesh Patel, Praful Pansheriya, Kuverji Halpati, and Bhikhusinh Parmar are the other six state ministers.
