The political storm brewing behind closed doors in the RJD has now exploded into the open. Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, has launched a direct and public offensive against his younger brother and party leader, Tejashwi Yadav. The deepening rift comes at a time when the party is already grappling with internal dissent and image issues.
In a fresh social media post from his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Tej Pratap questioned the RJD’s silence over controversial statements allegedly made by party MLA Bhai Virendra. He demanded action, invoking the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and constitutional respect. He accused the party of double standards and indicated that he had been unfairly expelled due to internal conspiracies.
Tej Pratap’s Post That Shook RJD
“Will RJD take action against its own MLA Bhai Virendra, who made shameful remarks against SC-ST communities and even issued life threats? I was ousted from the party under a conspiracy by traitors (Jai Chands). Now let’s see whether the party shows equal strictness against those who create such havoc. Respect for the Constitution should not be limited to speeches—it should reflect in conduct.”
This tweet is widely being interpreted as a direct challenge to Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership and the party's internal discipline.
Signs of Full-Blown Rebellion
Tej Pratap, who was earlier expelled from the party in the wake of the Anushka Yadav controversy, has since made several symbolic gestures distancing himself from the RJD. From removing the party’s flag from his vehicle to replacing the traditional green RJD cap with a yellow one, Tej Pratap has not only signaled rebellion but formalized it by forming his own team of supporters.
He has already declared his intent to contest from the Mahua Assembly seat, irrespective of who stands against him—even if it’s an RJD candidate. He has also openly criticized newly appointed RJD state president Mangni Lal Mandal and other senior party leaders, accusing them of poor leadership and conspiratorial politics.
Will Lalu Step In?
Party insiders suggest that the feud, if left unchecked, could damage RJD's internal cohesion and public image ahead of key electoral battles. Lalu Prasad Yadav, who commands loyalty across party factions, now faces increasing pressure to mediate before the situation spirals further out of control.
Observers believe that if Lalu doesn’t intervene swiftly, the rift between Tejashwi and Tej Pratap could potentially weaken the party's position, both internally and in the larger Bihar political landscape.
