Bihar: According to police, at least six persons in Bihar's East Champaran district have died and eight others have fallen unwell in the last day as a result of reportedly eating fake alcohol. They added that seven people have been detained in a special operation and that all appropriate legal action is being taken.

The eight patients are receiving care at various medical facilities, according to deputy inspector (Champaran range) Jayant Kant. He continued, "We learned that a small group of persons had gathered for a drinking session at Laxamipur village in Paharpur block. The deceased have been named as Ashok Paswan, Chhotu Paswan, Tuntun Singh, Bhutan Manjhi, Jata Ram, and Dhrup Paswan, all of whom belong in East Champaran's Paharpur block.

Purchase of any alcoholic beverage is completely prohibited
Sanjay Jaiswal, a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated, "The situation has spun out of control but CM Nitish Kumar is busy trying to become the prime ministerial candidate of the Opposition." After being outlawed by the state government in 2016, the production, bottling, distribution, transportation, collecting, storage, sale, possession, or purchase of any alcoholic beverage is completely prohibited under Bihar's Excise Act.
