UP News: A teacher from one of the government schools in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, has been suspended for playing Candy Crush on his mobile phone and speaking over the device during the course of duty.
It came to light when District Magistrate Rajendra Pansiya one day rushed to the school for checking, and his eyes fell upon scores of mistakes from the first page to last in students' copies. Later, a feature on the teacher's phone, which tracked hours dedicated to applications, revealed that he spent nearly two hours playing Candy Crush during school hours.

"Teachers should focus on checking the homework of students, and ensure that they get quality education. Also, using mobile phones is not a problem, but using them for personal reasons during school hours is not right," Rajendra Pansiya told India Today. District Magistrate Rajendra Pansiya checked six pages of six students' copies, spotting 95 mistakes, nine of which were on the very first page.
He expressed his displeasure over this and checked the phone of assistant teacher Priyam Goyal. The Digital Wellbeing feature on the teacher's phone then revealed that Goyal averaged playing one-and-a-half hours of Candy Crush every day during school hours.
On one day as Priyam Goyal spent out almost two hours playing Candy Crush, 26 minutes he spent talking on the phone, and he used social media apps for about 30 minutes out of the five-and-a-half hours of school hours. Thereafter, the District Magistrate apprised the matter to the state education department who then took cognisance and suspended the assistant teacher.
On Wednesday afternoon, the district collectorate inspected the school. At that time, out of 101 registered children, the presence of only 47 children was made sure. After this, the copies of 6 children were checked; from the first page to the last page, about 95 mistakes were visible in them. The officer took disliking to it and checked the mobile phone of teacher Goyal. The officer was surprised when the teacher's mobile phone checked, and then there was the information on the time the application runs.
