UP News: According to a recent development, the planned Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) is expected to build vital links between major cities like Meerut, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, and Greater Noida West and the future Noida Airport in Jewar. According to a TOI report, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presided over a meeting where the possibility of connecting the RRTS to the Indira Gandhi International Airport was discussed.

Comprehensive Examination at the Meeting

The feasibility of this proposed extension was examined at the meeting, which was attended by representatives from the state government, NHAI, Northern Railway, North Central Railway, and NCR Transport Corporation. An official attending the meeting disclosed that the proposal's mechanics are presently being reviewed, with instructions to confer with the Centre regarding its feasibility.

Government Nod for Rapid Rail Corridor

The Uttar Pradesh government gave its approval earlier this month for a rapid rail corridor that would link Delhi and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) with the Noida International Airport (NIA). Starting at the Ghaziabad rapid rail station on the Delhi-Meerut line, the proposed route will be extended. The NIA will be connected by a 72.3 km fast rail corridor, according to the approved proposal, which should be finished by 2041. By the end of 2024, the airport in Noida is scheduled to open for business.

Efficient Travel Projections

Emphasising the possible travel schedules, the representative revealed, "The distance between both airports could be covered within 80 minutes. Meanwhile, it would take about 50 minutes to travel to the Noida airport from Ghaziabad, 70 minutes from the Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi, and 85 minutes from Meerut." Furthermore, it is planned for the proposed alignment between Ghaziabad and Noida Airport to have 25 stations that connect to the Aqua and Blue lines of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in Noida. The future of this extension is dependent on additional consultations and practicality assessments while discussions are ongoing.
