UP News: For better transit options, the state government will operate e-buses in 19 cities, including 17 municipal corporations. The PM e-bus service plan will be used to operate these buses. A plan for this is being prepared by the Urban Development Department and will be delivered to the Centre shortly.
Varied Fleet Sizes for Diverse City Profiles
In large cities, 150–150 buses will be operated, 100–100 in medium cities, and 50–50 in small cities. Small AC e-buses are currently operated in 14 cities throughout the state as part of the Centre's Fame India programme. In Phase II, about 300 additional buses were expected. The PM e-Bus service was introduced by the Central Government in the interim. As a result, plans are currently being made to forgo buying new buses in Fame India Phase 2.
New Bus Fleet Proposals for Uttar Pradesh Cities
New buses for the PM e-bus service will now be required, according to the Urban Development Department. High level negotiations have already begun in this regard. On the basis of this, the proposition is being made. The Urban Development Department is putting together a proposal that calls for 150 to 150 new buses to be operated in the major cities of Lucknow, Kanpur, and Ghaziabad. In Varanasi, Agra, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Meerut, Bareilly, Aligarh, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Firozabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, it is proposed to operate 100 buses each. Ayodhya, Shahjahanpur, Mathura, Rampur, and Saharanpur will also have 50-50 bus service.
Phased Rollout and Maintenance Plans for New Urban Buses
These buses will be required by the Urban Development Department in phases. These cities will receive 10 to 15 buses in each phase, and all the buses will be available to them in one to two years. In order to repair these buses in the event of a breakdown, a proposal for their pricing and maintenance is also being prepared. It has been requested that these buses be made available to the public gradually by the Urban Development Department. In each phase, these cities will receive 10 to 15 buses. All buses will be offered to these cities in one to two years. A proposal about the buses' charge is being drafted in addition to their upkeep so that any repairs can be made in the event of a breakdown.
