Uttarakhand CM Dhami directs action against 1000 unauthorised mazars on forest land

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday assured that a special campaign will be launched in the state regarding population imbalance. He also said that the Land Jihad will not be tolerated asserting more than 1000 unauthorised mazars have been made on the forest land in the state.

Land Jahad will not be tolerated in Uttarakhand

Addressing the rally after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating schemes worth Rs 95 crore at the Government Inter College in Kaladhungi on Friday, the Chief Minister said that mazars have been made at more than one thousand places in the state. When dug up, no remains were found under it. Calling it land jihad, he said it won’t be tolerated in the state at any cost. Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt, organizer MLA Banshidhar Bhagat were also present on the occasion.

Anti-social elements emerge from unauthorised mazars

Meanwhile, In an interview with Panchjanya , CM Dhami also said that “anti-social elements emerge” from these mazars. The government will take action against such structures, he added. 

“It is indeed true that more than 1,000 such mazars have been built on forest land. These mazars are not of peer babas (holy saints) but are a part of mazar jihad and anti-social elements emerge from them. We’re also trying to find under which officer’s tenure these unauthorised mazars were built,” he said. 

Dhami’s statement comes years after the Uttarakhand government ordered the forest depart to identify unauthorised mazars, mosques, temples, and churches that have been built on forest land. 

Uttarakhand has strictest anti-conversion law: CM Dhami

The Uttarakhand CM also spoke about religious conversion in the state and said that he worries about Uttarakhand’ Sanatan Swaroop. 

“We brought the country’s strictest anti-conversion law in Uttarakhand. We do worry about Uttarakhand’s sanatan swaroop (eternal Hindu form)…We won’t let missionaries who convert people with allurement succeed here. Many issues of love jihad also came up, and it’s the government’s responsibility to stop them.”
