Uttarakhand News: For the improvement of higher education facilities, the Uttarakhand government has approved Rs 159 crore. Twenty government institutions will be revitalised and transformed into model colleges for research-based education under the National Education Policy-2020. In six government institutions, new PG buildings will be constructed for the arts and science department.
Uttarakhand's Vision for Research-Based Model Colleges
Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the state government is engaged in developing a research-based model college under the Higher Education Department. For this, an amount of Rs 129 crore has been approved for the development of basic structures in 20 government colleges. Similarly, Rs 30 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of separate PG blocks of arts and science faculty in six government colleges. Government Post Graduate College Rudrapur, Kashipur, Champawat, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Haldwani, Ranikhet, Kotdwar, Narendranagar, New Tehri, Uttarkashi, Thalisain, Gairsain, Laksar, Gopeshwar, Dakpathar, Raipur, Agastyamuni including DSB campus and Soban Model colleges will be set up in the Almora campus of Singh Jeena University by mobilising necessary resources.
New Facilities Including IT Labs and Dorms for Uttarakhand Colleges
In these universities, cutting-edge IT labs, e-learning spaces, as well as dorms for men and women, will be built. In addition, the students will have access to parking, a dining hall, a kitchen, a room and ramp for the disabled, and the warden's office. It was disclosed that the science faculty buildings in the Government College Tanakpur, Thatud, and Someshwar and the buildings for the arts faculty in the Government Post Graduate College Sealde, Berinag, and Kapkot will be built.
