Uttarakhand UCC draft to be model for other states, says CM Pushkar Dhami

Uttarakhand UCC draft: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the committee set up to draft the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state will submit its report by June 30. The hill state will then become the first state in India to implement UCC, Dhami said in Haridwar on Friday.

He was addressing seers and VHP leaders at the concluding session of the two-day meet of the Hindu outfit’s central advisory committee. The CM said that Uttarakhand’s draft may act as a “model for other states.”

Seers call Dhami a ‘karmayogi’

Meanwhile, the seers said Dhami was a ‘karmayogi’, a protector of religion. In response, he said he would restore the Devbhoomi to its original glory.

On the occasion, Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Nyas general secretary Champat Rai gave an account of the progress in construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya. He said, “The work is going on at good speed as expected by the people.” The ground floor, where an idol of the child Ram (Ram Lala) in a standing pose is to be installed, will be completed by October this year. Preparations for the idol’s ‘pran pratishtha’ were going on, Rai added. He further said, “This may be done by the end of December 2023.”

Spare time to ‘awaken’ Hindus

On the opening day of the meet, the VHP made a call to the seers’ community to spare time to ‘awaken’ Hindus, particularly the tribals, poor and deprived. The representatives of all Hindu sects, ashrams and akhadas welcomed the call.
