Char Dham Yatra: Yamunotri Dham to Welcome Pilgrims from THIS Date, Check

The sacred portals of Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand are set to open on April 30, 2025, at 11:55 AM, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. This announcement was made by the Shri Yamunotri Temple Committee on the occasion of Yamuna Jayanti.

Yamunotri Dham to Welcome Pilgrims from April 30

The opening ceremony will commence with the ceremonial procession of Goddess Yamuna's palanquin from her winter abode in Kharsali village at 8:00 AM on the same day. This procession, accompanied by the palanquin of her brother, Lord Shani Dev, will make its way to the Yamunotri temple. Upon arrival, temple priests will perform Vedic rituals before officially opening the temple doors to devotees.

Yamunotri is one of the four revered shrines in the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, which also includes Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Traditionally, the Char Dham Yatra begins with Yamunotri, followed by visits to the other three shrines. The portals of Gangotri are also scheduled to open on April 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM, while Kedarnath and Badrinath will open on May 2 and May 4, respectively. 

The Char Dham shrines remain closed for approximately six months each year due to harsh winter conditions and heavy snowfall. They reopen in the summer months, typically around April or May, allowing devotees to undertake the pilgrimage. The opening dates are determined based on auspicious occasions in the Hindu calendar, such as Akshaya Tritiya. 

Pilgrims planning to embark on the Char Dham Yatra are advised to prepare adequately for the journey, considering the challenging terrain and high altitudes. It is essential to check for any travel advisories or guidelines issued by the authorities to ensure a safe and fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
