On Sunday morning, the earth of Pithoragarh, the frontier district of Uttarakhand, was shaken by the tremors of the earthquake.
An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale was felt at Talla Johar in Munsiyari and Tejam tehsil areas at 8:58 am.
If there is an earthquake of high intensity, there can be a big loss
District Panchayat member Jagat Martolia said that the road distance from Pithoragarh to Joshimath is about 317.9 km, while the air distance is about ten km. Told that the borders of Joshimath and Munsiyari meet each other. From where people also move on foot. Here is Milam of Pithoragarh and Malari village of Joshimath. He told that the geography of Joshimath and Pithoragarh is almost the same. If an earthquake of high intensity occurs here, its effect can go up to Joshimath. This area is sensitive to earthquakes and falls in Zone-5.
According to the Disaster Management Department, the epicenter of the earthquake was near Ruinathal and Uprada Pathak on the banks of Ramganga river in Pithoragarh district. Its depth was ten km. No damage is reported.
