Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently highlighted the state government's commitment to farmers' prosperity, inspired by PM Narendra Modi's vision. One of the key initiatives in this direction is the Farm Machinery Bank Yojana, which aims to modernize agriculture by providing farmers access to advanced farming equipment at subsidized rates.
Key Benefits of the Farm Machinery Bank Yojana
Up to 80% Subsidy on Farm Equipment
Under this scheme, farmers receive a subsidy of up to 80% on the purchase of essential agricultural machinery. This significant financial aid reduces the burden of high equipment costs and enables small and marginal farmers to adopt modern farming techniques.
Enhancing Productivity and Efficiency
The availability of modern machinery helps in reducing labor-intensive processes, improving efficiency, and increasing agricultural output. Farmers can complete tasks like plowing, sowing, and harvesting faster and more effectively.
Encouraging Mechanization and Sustainability
With easier access to equipment such as tractors, tillers, and irrigation tools, farmers can shift towards mechanized farming, leading to higher crop yields and better resource utilization, reducing wastage and enhancing sustainability.
Financial Support and Reduced Debt Burden
The government also provides zero-interest loans of up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers, making it easier for them to invest in modern agricultural practices without financial strain.
Boosting Agricultural Growth and Rural Economy
By making advanced technology affordable and accessible, the scheme promotes growth in the agricultural sector, leading to higher incomes for farmers and stimulating the rural economy.
Complementary Initiatives for Farmers in Uttarakhand
Apart from the Farm Machinery Bank Yojana, the government is also promoting:
✔ Apple Mission – Encouraging apple orchard plantations with subsidies.
✔ Aromatic Farming Scheme – Developing six aromatic valleys to boost cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants.
✔ Budget Allocation – A separate provision of Rs 463 crores for farmers and animal husbandry to ensure continued growth and support.
With these proactive measures, Uttarakhand is moving towards agriculture modernization, empowering farmers, and ensuring sustainable and profitable farming practices across the state.
