Haridwar Viral Video:Haridwar’s sacred riverside ghats have become the subject of controversy after a video of a social media prank posted by two young men has gone viral. The short video, originally posted on X (formerly Twitter), has been widely shared by many and has received backlash from people who claim it disrespects their religious beliefs. Also, shortly after it went viral, the city police of Haridwar stepped in and stated that what the two boys had done was not suitable for an important religious site that has thousands of visitors each day.

Description of the Video

Haridwar Viral Video: The video shows two boys wearing clothing that resembles that of a Middle Eastern man. The boys were walking around various ghats, including Har Ki Pauri, as they filmed themselves. People in the area noticed them and noticed how they acted; some locals and priests felt strongly about the possibility that the boys had staged their actions as a way of gathering social media views, while not taking into consideration the sacredness of the place.

Police Action and Clarification

As a result of receiving complaints regarding the videos created by these boys, the Haridwar police department located and detained them for questioning. Authorities stated that reports claiming these individuals were foreigners were not correct. During questioning, the boys indicated that their intention in creating this video was to gain followers on their social media platforms and had no religious or political meaning attached to it.

The police provided the boys with a strong warning and also counselled them on how to act respectfully in sacred places.
