Joshimath residents still awaits for permanent rehabilitation

Due to landslide, the people of Joshimath want displacement around the city itself. SDM Joshimath Kumkum Joshi asked the affected people for suggestions regarding displacement, in which everyone talked about displacement around the city itself. Many disaster affected families in Joshimath have been in the relief camp for a month. But till now the situation regarding the rehabilitation of the affected people is not clear.

Now the administration has started going to the relief camps and asking the affected people for suggestions regarding displacement. On Friday, Joshimath SDM Kumkum Joshi visited the relief camps set up at Hotel Dronagiri, Sapphire, Manik Hotel, Old KV School and took suggestions from the affected families.

The affected people say that they are residents of this place, they have social and economic ties with it. That's why they should be displaced after seeing a safe place around Joshimath. They may have to face many problems if they go away from the city.

Most of the families living in the camps now want to move to rented buildings

Most of the families living in the camps now want to move to rented buildings. The affected people told the SDM that children's schools have opened, due to which there is a problem in sending children from hotels to schools. So they want to move to a rented building.

The SDM informed them that if they wanted to move to a rented building, they would be given Rs 5,000 per month. Most of the people living in the camps have started looking for rented accommodation.

The people of the disaster-hit Joshimath have slowly started moving from the relief camps to the rented buildings. Till Friday, 117 members of 53 families have shifted to rented accommodation. While 878 members of 243 families are living in the camps. On the other hand, the leakage of water in Jaypee campus remained 17 LPM even on Friday. An amount of Rs 475.73 lakh has been distributed to the affected by the administration.
