Attempts Were Made to Defame Kanwar Yatra, But They Failed: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

“In the initial days, some people tried to defame the Kanwar Yatra, but due to the alertness and prompt actions of the administration, no untoward incidents occurred,” Dhami stated while addressing the media in Dehradun.

‘Kanwar Yatra Is a Sacred Pilgrimage’

Calling the yatra a sacred pilgrimage, CM Dhami said it holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for millions of devotees who travel on foot to bring holy water from the Ganges for Lord Shiva.

“This is not just a journey; it is a symbol of devotion and faith. Some people want to malign it by creating unnecessary controversies. But their intentions will never succeed,” he asserted.

Praise for Administration and Devotees

The Chief Minister praised the coordination between police, district officials, and volunteers, crediting their efforts for maintaining law and order throughout the pilgrimage route. He also appreciated the discipline shown by the Kanwariyas and their respect for local guidelines.

“The government is committed to ensuring the safety and dignity of every pilgrim. This year’s peaceful conduct of the yatra is proof that Uttarakhand is fully prepared to host such large-scale spiritual events,” Dhami added.
