BJP MLA from Kedarnath, Asha Nautiyal, has called for restrictions on the entry of individuals allegedly involved in activities that could harm the sanctity of the revered Kedarnath Dham. Speaking after a recent meeting on Yatra management, Nautiyal expressed concerns over incidents that reportedly go unnoticed and emphasized the need to address the issue.
Kedarnath Entry Restrictions Proposed Amid Allegations of Misconduct
"Some people raised concerns that certain incidents take place which remain unreported. I also agree that if some people are doing anything that may malign the image of Kedarnath Dham, their entry should be banned," said Nautiyal. She further claimed that the individuals responsible for such acts are “definitely non-Hindus” and stressed that steps should be taken to prevent them from defaming the sacred pilgrimage site.

The Kedarnath Yatra, one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages, sees thousands of devotees visiting the temple every year. Nautiyal’s remarks have sparked discussions on whether religious identity should be a criterion for entry and what measures should be implemented to maintain the temple’s sanctity.
"If such an issue has been raised, then there must be something to it," she added, asserting that authorities should investigate the matter seriously. She also indicated that an official demand would be made to restrict the entry of individuals suspected of misconduct at the site.
The statement has triggered debates, with some supporting the idea of stricter regulations to protect the religious significance of Kedarnath, while others argue that such measures could lead to discrimination. It remains to be seen how the Uttarakhand government will respond to these concerns and whether formal restrictions will be imposed in the coming months.
