Six people died and many more were hurt in a sad stampede at the famous Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Saturday morning, according to early reports from ANI and the local government.

A lot of people were at the hilltop shrine at the time of the event. Thousands of people had come to pray during the lucky month of Sawan (Shravan). It was said that the crowd near the temple's door grew out of control early in the morning, causing chaos and a fatal crush.

Mess Among the Devotion

Reporters who were there said it was "panic-stricken" when the crowd started to move forward. The bad stampede is said to have happened because of narrow roads, limited space, and poor crowd control.

People in the area also said that the approach was slippery because of the summer rains, which may have made things worse by causing people to trip and fall, setting off a chain of accidents.

Rescue Operations and Response

The police, temple staff, and NDRF teams moved quickly to take charge of the situation. Rescue efforts are still going on, and the government is trying to get people who are still stuck in the area out of there and to nearby hospitals as quickly as possible.

The Haridwar District Magistrate and SSP got to the scene quickly to help with the rescue. There are emergency medical services at the temple, and some of the hurt people are being treated at the District Hospital in Haridwar.

What the government did

In Auli, India, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he was sorry for the tragedy and promised that the hurt people would get the right care. He has also ordered a high-level investigation into what happened to find out who was responsible for the problems with crowd control.

"This is a very bad thing that happened." "I told officials to act right away and make sure the injured get all the medical help they need," the CM wrote on social media.

People are being told to stay calm.

Every day, lakhs of pilgrims come to the temple for the Sawan celebrations. Now, officials are telling the devotees to be disciplined and do what the local government and cops say. The Mansa Devi Temple, which is on top of the Bilwa Parvat, is a very important religious place that gets very crowded, especially during the month of Shravan.

To keep things from going wrong again, security plans are being reviewed, and crowd control measures are being strengthened.
