Police arrested several protesters of Gaula Sangharsh Samiti and Youth Congress, who protested by showing black flags to the convoy of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who arrived on a one-day visit in Haldwani. The CM was to inaugurate the Sewerage Treatment/Legacy Waste Plant near Amla Gate. Meanwhile, Youth Congress leader Hemant Sahu has been arrested for protesting by showing black flags. The protesters were demanding a CBI inquiry into the Ankita murder case and the paper leak case. During this, the protesters also clashed with the police.
50-60 businessmen of Gaula Sangharsh Samiti arrested
When the CM reached Haldwani, the leaders of Gaula Sangharsh Samiti also protested by showing black flags. The police arrested 50-60 people, including committee leader Pammi Saifi.
Gola Khanan Sangharsh Samiti is opposing the abolition of the system of ban on evacuation of more than 108 quintals of vehicles. Earlier, when more than 108 quintals of mineral were extracted in the Gola river, the concerned dumper was stopped from mining for a day. Recently, the government has abolished this system.
