Pushkar Singh Dhami Presents ₹1.11 Lakh Crore Budget for Uttarakhand for FY 2026–27

A provision of ₹1,300 crore has been made for the Annapurti Scheme, while ₹298.35 crore has been allocated for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, on Monday presented the state budget of ₹1.11 lakh crore for the financial year 2026–27, outlining the government’s roadmap for development based on the GYAN model, which focuses on the welfare of the poor, youth, farmers and women.

The budget was presented on the first day of the assembly session, immediately after the Governor’s address — a first in the state’s history. Dhami said the government aims to connect every section of society with the mainstream of development and build a prosperous, self-reliant Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand for FY 2026–27

To improve the living standards of economically weaker sections, the government has increased allocations for several welfare schemes. A provision of ₹1,300 crore has been made for the Annapurti Scheme, while ₹298.35 crore has been allocated for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and ₹56.12 crore for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Additionally, ₹25 crore has been earmarked for housing for economically weaker sections.

The budget also includes ₹42 crore for free travel facilities for selected passengers in Transport Corporation buses and ₹43.03 crore as subsidy on cooking gas. For social welfare, ₹167.05 crore has been allocated for pension schemes, including assistance for differently-abled persons and other welfare pensions, while ₹25 crore has been set aside for the rehabilitation of disaster-affected families.

Focusing on employment generation, the government has allocated ₹60 crore for the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme, ₹10 crore for the Migration Prevention Scheme, and ₹62.29 crore for the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Development Scheme to enhance skill development opportunities for the youth.

The budget also aims to strengthen the education sector, with ₹155.38 crore allocated as assistance to non-government colleges, along with ₹10 crore for the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras and ₹10 crore for the Chief Minister Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Scheme.

For the agricultural sector, several initiatives have been included to boost farmers’ income. These include ₹39.90 crore for the Trout Promotion Scheme, ₹42 crore for Mission Apple, ₹32 crore as incentives for milk producers, and ₹42.50 crore for the Deendayal Upadhyay Cooperative Farmers Welfare Scheme.

Additional allocations include ₹160.13 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, ₹12 crore for the Millet Mission, and ₹12.06 crore for the Farmers’ Pension Scheme.

The government has also announced special provisions aimed at improving women’s health, nutrition and economic empowerment, highlighting the administration’s focus on inclusive and sustainable development across the hill state.
