Supreme Court Seeks Status Report Ankita Bhandari Murder Case

In the famous Ankita Bhandari murder case of Uttarakhand, the Supreme Court on Monday asked the state government to file a status report regarding the investigation. A bench of Justice KM Joseph and Justice BV Nagaratna, while hearing a petition filed by a journalist and Ankita’s family, asked Deputy Advocate General Jatinder Kumar Sethi to file a status report on the investigation that has taken place so far.

It has been urged in the petition that a CBI inquiry should be conducted in this matter. During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioners raised several questions regarding the manner in which the investigation was conducted and claimed that there were several lapses in the investigation conducted by the State Police.

Sethi said that such petitions demoralize the state police, while it has done a good job.

Significantly, Ankita Bhandari, who worked as a ‘receptionist’ at Vanantara Resort near Rishikesh, was allegedly murdered by her boss Pulkit Arya and two of his accomplices.

The accused are in jail and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has also filed a charge sheet against them.
