Uttarakhand Makes Marriage Registration Free Under UCC Till July 26, 2025
This move aims to encourage maximum participation in the formal registration of marriages, especially among economically weaker sections, and to promote equal rights across all communities.
Uttarakhand Government Has Positioned Itself As A Pioneer In Implementing UCC
The Uttarakhand government has positioned itself as a pioneer in implementing UCC provisions, striving to create a uniform framework that transcends religious or personal laws in matters like marriage, divorce, and inheritance. Making marriage registration free of cost is being seen as a major confidence-building measure for the public.
Officials said that public awareness campaigns are also underway to educate citizens about the benefits and legal importance of registering marriages under the new system. Special camps and digital assistance centers are being set up across the state to facilitate easy registration.
The initiative is part of the larger vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who has repeatedly emphasized equal rights, legal clarity, and ease of access as pillars of governance.
