Uttarakhand Allows 1000 More Number of Pilgrims to ‘Char Dham’

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday announced that the number of pilgrims to Char Dham, i.e. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath will be increased by one thousand.

In a single day, 16000 worshippers can visit Badrinath and 13000 can see the god in Kedarnath Dham. Up to 8000 and 5000 pilgrims can visit Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams respectively in a day. Previously, only 15000 pilgrims per day were permitted at Badrinath, while it was 16000 at Kedarnath, 7000 at Gangotri Dham and 5000 at Yamunotri Dham.

According to Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, the number of pilgrims that have visited ‘Char Dham’ this year has crossed the figure of 2 lakh, Out of which 77,656 visited Kedarnath alone, while 49,215 visited Gangotri and 46,405 Yamunotri. Rest 30,773 visited Yamunotri for ‘darshan’.

“The capacity of 1000 passengers has been increased to each Dham to streamline the darshan”, the CM added. The state administration has sent security personnel and a team of health professionals along the pilgrim path.
