Uttarakhand avalanche: 19 bodies of mountaineers recovered, rescue operation continues

So far 19 people have died in the Uttarkashi Avalanche accident, along with 13 people are missing. The rescue operation is going on for 70 hours but due to bad weather in between, the rescue operation has to be stopped. This incident happened after an avalanche on Draupadi's Danda peak.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said that a total of 19 bodies have been recovered so far after the Uttarkashi avalanche. Efforts will be made to bring the dead bodies to the Matali helipad by an upgraded helicopter on Friday. A total of 30 rescue teams are deployed at the spot, he said. With this, the weather on Friday can also hinder the rescue operation as it is cloudy in Uttarkashi. While 10 tracker trainees are still missing and 19 bodies have been recovered so far.

The team of High Altitude War Fair School Gulmarg has also been involved in the Uttarkashi Avalanche accident since Thursday. These teams are also rescuing the people trapped in the avalanche. They are well versed in fighting at high altitudes like Gulmarg and Siachen. 15 people of the team had already reached Uttarkashi. This team also trains the army on how to defend the glacier.

ITBP along with team from High Altitude War Fair School is carrying out rescue operations along with SDRF, NIS and NDRF. Now an advanced helicopter landing ground has been prepared for the rescue at an altitude of 16000 feet. This incident happened on Tuesday. Since then the rescue operation is going on continuously. Then the climbers went for mountaineering.
