Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will soon be introduced in the state. Speaking at the Shasthi Purti Mahotsav held in Vatsalya Gram at Vrindavan, he revealed that the bill for implementing the UCC will be presented in the assembly shortly. The UCC aims to establish a common code of personal laws applicable to individuals of all religions, promoting uniformity in legal matters.
Assembly Presentation: Chief Minister Dhami expressed his commitment to introducing the bill in the legislative assembly, emphasizing the significance of a uniform legal framework that transcends religious boundaries. The move aligns with the government's objective of ensuring equal treatment and justice for all citizens.
Political Commentary: Dhami took a swipe at opposition parties, asserting that those who opposed the interests of "Ram bhakts" would not have undertaken significant initiatives such as the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, or the abolition of triple talaq. He reaffirmed the government's dedication to fulfilling the commitment of constructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating in the consecration ceremony on January 22.
Homage to Sadhvi Ritambhara: Chief Minister Dhami lauded Sadhvi Ritambhara as an embodiment of "vatsalya" (affection) and motherhood. He extended his wishes for her long life and sought the blessings of revered seers present at the Shasthi Purti Mahotsav event. The announcement reflects a significant step toward legal reform in Uttarakhand, fostering inclusivity and equality under a common civil code.
