Uttarakhand government issues guidelines for Chardham Yatra

Chardham Yatra is going to start in Uttarakhand from 22nd April. Uttarakhand Medical Health and Family Welfare Department has issued a health advisory for pilgrims in view of the increasing cases of Covid in Uttarakhand and the weather in the high Himalayan region. Health Secretary DrIn the guidelines issued by R Rajesh Kumar, it has been said that all the pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand are located in the high Himalayan region. Their height is more than 2700 meters above sea level. Travelers in those places can be affected by extreme cold, low humidity, extreme ultraviolet radiation, low air pressure and low oxygen content. It has been directed that all the pilgrims should follow the health advisory for a smooth and safe journey.

The health department has issued health related guidelines to all the district collectors of Garhwal division for the Chardham Yatra. At the same time, the pilgrims should be encouraged and made aware to follow the Covid Appropriate Behavior during the Yatra. What will the pilgrim have to prepare

An appeal has been made to the pilgrims that the pilgrims can remain safe during the pilgrimage. Be sure to have a medical and track preparation before you arrive on the trip. High altitude can cause sickness. For this it is important to plan, prepare and pack. Plan your trip for at least seven days, so that travelers can have time to acclimatise. Along with this, plan a break on the way so that there is no difficulty in the journey.

Practice breathing exercises for 5-10 minutes daily before you come on a trip and during your trip. Walk daily for 20-30 minutes. If the traveler is over the age of 55 or has a history of heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, or diabetes, undergo a health check-up to ensure fitness for travel. Carry warm clothes, woolen sweater, thermals, fur jacket, gloves, socks, raincoat, umbrella to protect from rain.

Travelers with heart disease, hypertension, asthma, diabetes should carry all necessary medicines, test equipments and contact number of their home doctor. Do check the weather report before your trip and pack warm clothes according to the cold. Avoid traveling if your doctor advises against traveling. High altitude can cause serious illnesses if a traveler has chest pain, difficulty in talking, persistent cough, dizziness, vomiting, icy-cold skin, weakness on one side of the body, numbness.
