Uttarakhand News: The proposal to double the lane of the road section from Harbatpur to Badkot on the Yamunotri Highway has received a green light with the approval of ₹346 crores by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari shared this information on Saturday. The state government had recently sent a proposal to the central government for the expansion of the 25-kilometer stretch between Badkot and Harbatpur. The central government has now sanctioned funds for the project, and work is expected to commence soon.
The Harbatpur to Badkot stretch covers a total distance of 111 kilometers, with the first 17 kilometers from Harbatpur already having a double-lane road. Efforts are now being made to extend the double-lane coverage further along the route.
Expressing gratitude for the approval, Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Dhami acknowledged the unprecedented pace of road construction and development in the state under the leadership of the Prime Minister. However, due to the alignment change caused by the construction of the Lakhwad Barrage, the road's alignment needs modification. Therefore, the initial approval has been granted for doubling the lane of the 25-kilometer section from Badkot.
