Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a one-day workshop under Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan 2025 at Mukhya Sevak Sadan, located at his official residence. During the event, he launched the Bhagirath mobile app and released a brochure related to the campaign, an official said.

The Bhagirath app will allow citizens to report critical and endangered water sources in their areas. The government will then take necessary steps to restore and conserve these sources. The app aligns with the Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan 2025 theme:

"Dhara Mera, Naula Mera, Gaon Mera, Prayas Mera."

Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority's Role in Water Conservation

CM Dhami highlighted the formation of the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA), which aims to protect and revive Uttarakhand’s water sources, Naulas, Dharaas, and rain-fed rivers.

In the past year, SARA has collaborated with various departments and achieved the following:

Stored 3.12 million cubic meters of rainwater.

Conserved over 6,500 water sources across the state.

Worked with the Central Ground Water Board to recharge groundwater in the plains.

Scientific Approach to River Revival

The government has also taken a scientific approach to revive Uttarakhand’s rivers. In the first phase, a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared for the rejuvenation of Nayar, Song, Uttarvahini Shipra, and Gauri rivers. This project is being developed in collaboration with IIT Roorkee and NIH Roorkee, ensuring a technically sound and scientifically driven conservation plan.

The launch of the Bhagirath app and SARA's ongoing efforts reflect Uttarakhand's commitment to water conservation and environmental sustainability.
