Ahead of the monsoon season, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre, located in IT Park, Dehradun, to assess the state’s preparedness to handle potential monsoon-related emergencies.

The Chief Minister took stock of the arrangements made across all 13 districts of the hill state, which remains highly vulnerable to landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, and other natural disasters during the rainy seasons .

Focus on Timely Coordination and Resource Deployment

During the meeting, CM Dhami directed officials to ensure inter-departmental coordination, real-time information sharing, and pre-positioning of response teams and equipment in vulnerable areas. “Every district must be on high alert, and the response mechanism should be swift, structured, and community-centric,” he said.

He also stressed on the need for early warning systems, mock drills, and public awareness campaigns, especially in landslide-prone zones and pilgrimage routes like the Char Dham Yatra circuit.

Top Officials Present at Review Meet

Senior officials from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Uttarakhand Police, District Administrations, Meteorological Department, and Public Works Department were present. They briefed the CM about rainfall trends, contingency plans, relief stock availability, and evacuation strategies.

Officials also discussed restoration strategies for roads, power lines, and water supplies in case of disruptions, with special attention to remote and hilly areas.

Public Safety and Pilgrimage Season a Key Concern

With the ongoing Char Dham Yatra witnessing heavy footfall, ensuring pilgrim safety was a central focus of the meeting. The Chief Minister instructed that pilgrimage monitoring systems, traffic flow updates, and weather alerts be regularly updated and disseminated.

He urged officials to work in mission mode to minimize loss of life and property and assured that the state government is committed to 24x7 emergency response readiness during the monsoon.
