Uttarakhand News: The prospect of implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand gains momentum as the state government forms a committee to finalize its report by February 2. This development aligns with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's electoral promise to introduce a UCC in the state. In light of this commitment, Dhami has canceled his scheduled Ayodhya trip along with cabinet colleagues to oversee the committee's progress actively.

Committee Details and Draft Completion

The committee, chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash, comprises five members and has made significant headway in drafting the UCC report. The comprehensive draft is expected to be submitted on February 2, marking a critical step in the legislative process. The committee's careful consideration involves evaluations by legal, financial, and justice departments to ensure a robust and well-founded proposal.

Special Assembly Session Planned for UCC Bill Presentation

In pursuit of the UCC implementation, Chief Minister Dhami plans to present the bill during a special session of the legislative assembly scheduled for February 5.
