The government of Uttarakhand is receiving a much-needed boost for its education system. As part of the ambitious PM Shri Schools initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 141 model schools will be built across the state.

Central Government Releases Funds for School Development

To expedite the project, the Central Government has released a third installment of Rs 18 crore. This funding will be used to develop the selected schools into state-of-the-art institutions.

Schools Selected Based on Existing Infrastructure

Officials from the education department have meticulously chosen government schools across Pithoragarh, Pauri, Almora, Uttarkashi, and Tehri districts. These schools were selected based on their existing infrastructure, including classrooms, libraries, laboratories, sports fields, and rainwater harvesting systems.

Upgrading Schools into Model Institutions

With the allocated funds, these schools will undergo a comprehensive transformation, positioning them as model institutions for the entire state. The Central Government will shoulder the majority of the expenditure required for this project.
