The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some districts. According to Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center, the weather on Tuesday may remain cloudy with chances of rain in isolated areas of Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Champawat, and Nainital districts. Other parts of the state are expected to remain dry. From Wednesday until April 18, light rainfall, hailstorms, and dense clouds are likely to keep temperatures around normal levels in most districts, with the exception of Haridwar.

Meanwhile, the five-day extended weekend brought a heavy tourist influx to Nainital. Though many tourists began returning on Monday, over 50 percent of hotel rooms remained booked. The city’s hotels, guest houses, and homestays were fully occupied for the past five days. To manage traffic and avoid congestion, police stopped tourist vehicles at Rusi One and Rusi Two checkpoints and arranged shuttle services for smooth transit into the city.

Despite the changing weather, local authorities have advised residents and tourists to stay updated with official alerts and avoid venturing into high-altitude areas during snowfall or adverse conditions. The administration is also on alert to respond to any emergencies, ensuring that both locals and visitors remain safe as unpredictable weather patterns continue in the region.
