Water leakage has increased once again in Joshimath, but it is a matter of some relief that the cracks in the buildings have stopped for the last three days. According to Disaster Management Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, it has been detected by the crackometer installed in the buildings by CBRI, that neither the number of cracks nor their width has increased in the area. In the meeting, the Urban Development Department was instructed to prepare for effective urban town planning in every district. Instructions have also been given for effective arrangement of drainage and sewer system in hill towns.

The survey work is being done by the Chamoli district administration. A relief package will be prepared on the basis of his report. Reports of central technical institutions are also to come. The Chief Secretary also held a meeting with these organizations through video conferencing and gave instructions to work within the stipulated time.

Till now cracks have come in 849 buildings

Disaster Management Secretary said that till now cracks have appeared in 849 buildings. One in Gandhinagar, two in Singhdhar, 5 in Manoharbagh, 7 in Sunil have been declared unsafe. 181 buildings are located in unsafe zone.

Relief camps have been set up at various places

According to the Disaster Management Secretary, there are a total of 615 rooms in Joshimath, which have a capacity of 2190 people, and 491 rooms in Pipalkoti, which have a capacity of 2205 people, in the temporarily identified relief camps.

Detailed report of water leakage is to come

Four places have been identified for relocation. If people have to be compensated then that is also an option. Regarding the increase or decrease in water leakage, he said that only after the detailed investigation report comes, something can be said about it.
