Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the ambitious Atal Puram Township in Agra. The project is being seen as a major step towards planned urban development in the city, aligning with the state government’s vision of modernizing key urban centres in Uttar Pradesh.
A 360-Acre Township to Redefine Agra’s Urban Landscape
Spread over 360 acres, Atal Puram Township will be developed by the Agra Development Authority (ADA) under the Shahri Vistaarikaran Yojana. The township is expected to include state-of-the-art infrastructure, housing facilities, green spaces, and commercial zones, promising a well-planned, sustainable living environment for future residents.
Focus on Infrastructure, Planning, and Sustainability
According to officials, the township will follow a model of integrated development, incorporating essential amenities like schools, hospitals, shopping complexes, and parks. The project also aims to ease the population burden on central Agra by offering a self-sufficient township with seamless connectivity.
Boost to Employment and Regional Economy
The mega project is also expected to generate thousands of jobs during the construction phase and create long-term employment opportunities through commercial and service sectors. Local contractors, labourers, and vendors are anticipated to benefit significantly from the township’s development.
Shahri Vistaarikaran Yojana: Transforming Cities Across UP
Atal Puram is one of several such urban expansion initiatives being launched under the Shahri Vistaarikaran Yojana, a state government programme aimed at structured city development. These projects are being implemented in multiple districts to prepare Uttar Pradesh’s urban centres for future population growth and economic expansion.
A Vision for Agra’s Future
The launch of Atal Puram Township marks a significant moment in Agra’s urban history. With modern facilities, robust planning, and a clear developmental roadmap, the township is envisioned to become a model of smart and sustainable urbanization in Uttar Pradesh.
