Aparna Yadav: In a shocking turn of events ripping through the political corridors of Uttar Pradesh, Prateek Yadav – the stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav – has posted on Instagram that he would soon divorce Aparna Yadav, his wife and Rajya Mahila Aayog Vice Chairperson.
Prateek, the son of BSP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav from his second wife Sadhna Gupta, calls Aparna a bad soul. Meanwhile, Aparna’s brother Aman Bisht has claimed that Prateek could never say such as thing and his Instagram account may have been hacked.
Prateek detailed irreconcilable differences and said Aparna is a selfish woman who only cares about her good. Meanwhile, Aparna Yadav has stayed silent on this family matter.
Aparna Yadav-What Could Possibly Cause This Marital Feud?
Many believe that this marital feud may be a cause of political pressures, lavish lifestyles clashing with personal drifts or even infidelity.
In December 2011, Aparna married Prateek Yadav after a decade-long love story, evolving from Lucknow school acquaintances to a high-profile marriage that was attended by the likes of celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan. Aparna contested as a BJP leader from the Lucknow Cantt seat. Mulayam’s ‘Chhoti Bahu’ and Prateek have a daughter.
As divorce papers reportedly prepare to fly, many eyes have turned to the possible alimony that Aparna may get. Indian courts, guided by the Hindu Marriage Act, consider factors such as marriage duration, lifestyle and assets. Aparna may demand 25-40 percent of marital assets with the Yadavs’ opulent Kanpur-Lucknow properties, luxury cars, and alleged business stakes worth several crores.
Aparna runs an NGO, ‘B Aware’, which works for animal welfare. She had completed her master’s degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Manchester. In the past, Aparna has time and again praised UP CM Yogi Adityanath with whom the ‘Chhoti Bahu’ shares the Thakur-Bisht background.

The possible marital split could threaten the carefully curated “family first” image of Akhilesh Yadav. Core Yadav voters may shrug off this elite family drama but urban voter base may be dented by this development.
