Atiq Ahmed Murder Case: Prayagraj ACP Transferred

Atiq Ahmed Murder Case: The Uttar Pradesh government ordered the transfer of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) who was present when the two brothers were shot dead on Saturday, acting decisively in the wake of the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf on Tuesday.

Police Headquarters in Lucknow has been assigned to ACP Narsingh Narayan Singh.

In Prayagraj, Mahendra Singh Deo has been promoted to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police. The incident occurred as concerns about the state’s law and order situation and criticism of the Uttar Pradesh Police for “lawlessness” arose. Atiq Ahmed and his brother were slain while in the care of the UP Police while being sent for a medical checkup.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent letters to the Prayagraj Commissioner of Police and Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh requesting reports on the murders of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf by three youths while they were in police custody.

The NHRC investigated reports stating that two brothers were murdered by miscreants on live television on Saturday night in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. The UP DGP Prayag Police Commissioner has now received letters from the commission and has been instructed to submit a report within four weeks.

On Saturday evening, Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot and killed in front of Colvin Hospital in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.

When Atiq and Ashraf were young children, there were two murders.

Atiq and Ashraf were duble murder while being driven to a doctor for a checkup. The brothers were shot at close range by three young people posing as journalists while yelling “Jai Shri Ram,” instantly killing them both. Asad, the son of Atiq, was slain by the UP Police in an encounter last week near Jhansi.
