Devotees thronged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya to mark the anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) ceremony of Lord Ram. Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das highlighted the significance of observing the event based on the Hindi calendar’s Dwadashi date, which this year fell on January 11, though the actual Pran Pratishtha took place on January 22 last year.
Temple Observances Based on the Hindi Calendar
Speaking about the celebrations, Acharya Satyendra Das said, “According to the Hindi calendar, the Pran Pratishtha ceremony occurred on Dwadashi, so the anniversary was celebrated on the 11th this year. However, as the consecration originally took place on January 22, many devotees who follow the English calendar are visiting today for darshan.” He also explained that this practice of observing the event based on the Dwadashi date will continue in future years.
A Day of Devotion and Celebration
Devotees gathered in large numbers to offer prayers and witness the grandeur of the temple. Many visitors had traveled from Prayagraj, adding to the massive turnout. The Chief Priest remarked, “Today, people are having darshan very well. Some devotees returned from Prayag, contributing to the huge crowd here.”
Reflection on the Unique Ceremony
Recalling last year’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony, Acharya Satyendra Das described it as a remarkable event. “One year ago, it was unique in itself. It was the second [consecration of Lord Ram], and it was amazing. That is why there was a huge crowd, similar to what Prayagraj feels today.”
The temple, a symbol of faith and devotion for millions of Hindus, continues to draw visitors from across the country, reaffirming its spiritual significance and cultural heritage. The annual celebration underscores the unity and reverence of devotees worldwide.
