Bareilly Woman Burnt Alive For Dowry, Six Booked Including Husband

A woman was burnt to death by her husband and in-laws at Qila in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. Police gave this information. Cases have been registered against six in-laws including her husband under IPC section 307 and other sections. SHO Jagat Singh said that on April 13, Pratap Singh allegedly set his wife Rajni on fire after pouring kerosene on her for not giving dowry. The condition of the victim is critical.

Doctors say that she has suffered 80 per cent burns. They were married in February 2018. The victim’s mother told that she had given sufficient dowry at the time of marriage, but her in-laws were demanding Rs 2 lakh more. Police have started investigation into the matter.

The husband and five other members of his family have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC including 307.

SHO Jagat Singh said Pratap Singh allegedly poured kerosene on his wife Rajni on April 13 for not fulfilling the dowry demand.
