CM Yogi Adityanath: 447 development projects worth (ten billion fifteen hundred million rupees) have been launched and their foundations laid by CM Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh on 23rd April 2026, as a part of the government’s initiative to transform Gorakhpur’s infrastructure and improve the city’s overall quality of life.

The event to unveil these new opportunities was held at the Ekla Embankment along side the Rapti River, where Yogi remarked on Gorakhpur’s growth “We can create a new future through deliberate actions.” He described how far Gorakhpur has come from a place of garbage and waterlogged areas to cleaner and greener areas, the result of purposeful action taking place over time.

Key Projects Across Sectors
Out of 497 projects listed, there are many different sectors; including emphasis on essential infrastructure and sustainability. Some of the most important highlights include:
The construction of new roads or improvements to existing roads (one example being the Nausadh-Malouni.
The implementation of new drinking water supply systems or sewage systems.
Improvements made to the drainage of stormwater to address issues related to excess rain and flooding.
Initiatives that focus on beautifying public parks, creating green belts/landscapes around the city, and expanding urban forestry.
One project that stands out is the construction of an Eco Park that utilized 226,000 metric tonnes of legacy waste; this project represents an innovative solution for managing waste and restoring the environment.
Initiatives to promote cleanliness and green initiatives
Yogi launched a poster for the “Swachh School Abhiyan,” which encourages school children to participate in making Gorakhpur garbage-free. The purpose is to raise awareness about civic duties and environmental issues among the youth.
He also called for large-scale tree planting during Van Mahotsav and to develop mini urban forests in each of Gorakhpur’s city wards, which will enhance the green area in Gorakhpur.
