A shocking CCTV video from Syana town in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr has gone viral, showing a cop manhandling a local shopkeeper. The clip, now spreading like wildfire on social media, shows Sub-Inspector Devendra Shukla slapping the man, pulling his hair, hurling abuses, and dragging him inside a shop.

The incident occurred at a small confectionery store and has triggered massive outrage both online and offline. The brutality caught on camera has raised serious questions about police misconduct and unchecked use of power in broad daylight.

Social Media Explodes Over Bulandshahr Cop Assault Video

Netizens didn’t hold back after watching the footage. Many slammed the officer’s actions, calling it another example of power being misused against the poor and voiceless.

One user wrote, “This is a common occurrence for people coming from poor households. People in power know they can take their frustration out on them without any consequences.”

Another said, “If you’re strong, you can do anything and face no consequences. However, if you’re weak, every single day is a relentless struggle for survival.”

A third user urged, “Please take strict action against this police officer.” Some even vented frustration at the justice system. One person said, “Bas aise police walo ke kaaran hi pura judiciary system kharab hai.”

Another mocked, “Yeh naam roshan karenge.”

Cop Defends Himself, Blames Shopkeeper

Following the uproar, Sub-Inspector Devendra Shukla released a statement trying to justify his actions. He claimed the shopkeeper was blocking the road by placing goods outside his shop. Shukla said he only asked the vendor to clear the space, and things got heated.

But the video tells another story as it clearly shows aggression, not negotiation.

Bulandshahr Police Responds, Officer Moved To ‘Online Duty’

In response to the viral video, Bulandshahr Police posted an update on X (formerly Twitter). They said the officer has been taken off field duty and placed on “online duty” with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry is underway to probe the incident and determine further action.

However, the term “online duty” didn’t sit well with many. Social media users slammed it as a mere slap on the wrist, with some sarcastically saying it’s no punishment at all.
