In Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district, a child died after colliding with the vehicles of BJP MP’s convoy. It was told that two SUVs in the MP’s convoy rammed into the children and left. The incident took place when the child was returning home from school.
According to the report of media, the matter is related to Badeban area of Basti district. The convoy of BJP MP Harish Dwivedi was passing here on Saturday, 26 November. At the same time, a child named Abhishek died due to an SUV collision. He used to study in class two. Was returning home from school at the time of the incident. The newspaper reported that Abhishek was hit by an SUV about 200 meters from the house. On getting information about this, Abhishek’s father Shatrughan Rajbhar lodged an FIR against two white colored Toyota Fortuner at Kotwali police station of the city.
Basti SP Ashish Srivastava told the newspaper that an FIR has been registered in the Kotwali police station regarding the matter. He has four children. Abhishek was his only son.
Basti CO Alok Prasad told about the matter,
“The family of the deceased has alleged that the accident happened with a Fortuner in which a public representative was present. We are trying to trace the driver and the vehicle.”
On the other hand, Abhishek’s uncle Pradeep Kumar Rajbhar has accused the police of not taking action against the MLA. They said,
“We have given the footage of a CCTV camera installed near the spot to the police. It is clearly visible in the footage that some people ran away after hearing the loud noise. In another footage, a sound was heard when a white Fortuner passed by.”
Pradeep further said,
“In another footage, which is a kilometer away from the spot, MP Harish Dwivedi and his colleague are seen inspecting the Fortuner. The bumper of the SUV got damaged. We are shocked to see the attitude of the MP, who did not even try to stop after being hit by his vehicle. I have provided all the footage to the police to take action against them.”
Pradeep further informed that the local people told him that two Fortuner cars of MP Harish Dwivedi had hit the boy. Said that if the MP had stopped on the spot and taken the boy to the hospital on time, his life could have been saved.
What did the MP say?
MP Harish’s clarification regarding the incident has also come to the fore.
“There was no accident with the vehicle I was traveling in. My car was moving ahead. There were other vehicles coming behind me but I don’t know how the accident happened. My sympathies are with the family of the deceased and we are providing all possible help to them. I have asked the police to trace the driver and the vehicle involved soon.”
Harish Dwivedi is the former president of BJP Yuva Morcha. He won his first Lok Sabha election in the year 2014 from Basti. He has said that if the accident had happened with his car, he would not have run away. The police have registered a case under IPC sections 303-A and 279 on this incident.
