In a major step towards enhancing public connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the introduction of a city bus service across all three authority areas of Gautam Buddh Nagar — Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway.

According to officials, the first major route under this plan will connect Jewar and Noida’s Botanical Garden, a key transport hub linked with the Delhi Metro. The move aims to ensure seamless and affordable public access to the international airport once operational.

500 City Buses to be Deployed Across District

Following a tender process initiated in March by the Directorate of Urban Transport, two agencies have been selected to operate 500 city buses across the three regions:

Noida will receive 300 buses

Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority area will get 100 buses each

A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed involving officials from all three authorities. This SPV will finalize the routes based on demand and survey reports. The authorities will also be responsible for developing bus stops, depots, and supporting infrastructure, which will then be handed over to the selected agencies for operation.

App-Based Smart Transit System on the Cards

To modernize the public transport experience, the SPV will also develop a dedicated mobile app that will allow passengers to:

Track bus routes and timings in real time

Make payments via UPI or a proposed joint card system integrated with Noida Metro

Access complete route planning features for easier commutes

Officials believe this app-based integration will not only bring transparency and convenience but also encourage more people to opt for public transport, especially for airport connectivity.

Once operational, this city bus plan is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing last-mile travel issues, cutting down private vehicle use, and supporting the success of Noida International Airport as a major aviation and economic hub.
