Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced free bus travel for women across the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

Under the initiative, women will be able to travel free of charge in buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) from the night of August 27 to the night of August 28. Each woman passenger will also be allowed to travel with one companion at no cost.
The Chief Minister has directed the authorities to ensure that women can reach their homes safely and conveniently during the festival period.

The Transport Department, police and local administration have been asked to coordinate arrangements to manage the expected increase in passenger movement and maintain safety during the free-travel period.
The government has also instructed Anti-Romeo Squads to remain active to strengthen security for women and girls around transport routes and public areas.
The Raksha Bandhan initiative is intended to make festive travel more accessible for women while ensuring adequate security arrangements across Uttar Pradesh.
