CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday urged people to stop using plastic and actively contribute towards keeping cities clean and disease-free during his visit to Gorakhpur.
Addressing the public, the Chief Minister appealed to citizens not to dump polythene, clothes or household waste into drains and asked people to support cleanliness efforts to make the city cleaner and more beautiful.
Yogi Adityanath said public participation is essential for maintaining sanitation, preventing diseases and ensuring a healthier future for present and coming generations.

The Chief Minister stated that if citizens contribute responsibly towards cleanliness, cities will remain hygienic, environmentally safe and capable of achieving new development goals.
Officials said the remarks were made during the inspection of multiple development projects worth over ₹495 crore in Gorakhpur on May 15, 2026.
Focus on sanitation and urban development
The Uttar Pradesh government has been emphasising sanitation, waste management and urban infrastructure development as part of its broader governance initiatives.
Authorities said awareness regarding plastic waste disposal and drainage cleanliness is being promoted to reduce pollution and improve public health conditions across urban areas in the state.
