CM Yogi Adityanath on Monday extended full support to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) amid allegations of a religious conversion nexus, assuring that the safety, dignity, and institutional integrity of the premier medical university remain the state government’s top priority. The assurance came during a meeting with KGMU vice chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand, who briefed the chief minister on the current situation and the steps taken by the university administration.

According to KGMU officials, Yogi Adityanath said that the alleged conversion-related activities appear to have a wider network and complexity that go beyond the administrative and investigative capacity of the university. In view of the seriousness of the allegations, the probe has been handed over to the Special Task Force (STF) to ensure a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation.

The vice chancellor also shared details of the report submitted by the committee constituted under the Vishakha Committee guidelines, outlining the measures taken to address internal concerns and maintain discipline on campus. Reiterating the government’s commitment, Yogi Adityanath emphasized that no compromise will be made on the academic atmosphere and safety of students, faculty, and staff. He assured that the state administration will provide all necessary assistance to ensure transparency, accountability, and the preservation of KGMU’s long-standing reputation as a leading medical institution in Uttar Pradesh.
