Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath congratulated Indian archers Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Anil Mohod after the trio won the gold medal in the women’s recurve team event at the Asian Games 2026.
In a social media post, Adityanath described the achievement as a significant moment for Indian archery and congratulated the three archers for their performance against South Korea in the final.

The Indian women’s recurve team defeated South Korea 5-3 in a closely contested final to secure the gold medal. The victory marked India’s first-ever Asian Games gold in the women’s recurve team event.
The Indian team comprised Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and 17-year-old Kumkum Mohod. The trio maintained their composure in challenging conditions to overcome the defending champions.

The Indian trio faced South Korea in the gold-medal match and secured a 5-3 victory in the final.
The result ended South Korea’s run of dominance in the women’s recurve team event at the Asian Games, with India claiming the title for the first time.

The historic gold adds to India’s strong performance in archery at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. India had also secured multiple team titles in the compound events earlier in the competition.
