Praveen Kumar’s Achievement Brings Pride to Uttar Pradesh
Praveen Kumar’s gold medal victory in the T64 high jump category marks a significant sporting achievement for Uttar Pradesh and India. The T64 classification is associated with athletes who have lower-limb impairments and compete using a prosthesis. The high jump event tests an athlete’s speed, coordination, technique and explosive power to clear a horizontal bar at increasing heights.
Success in para-athletics requires years of disciplined training, physical conditioning and mental resilience. Athletes competing at the international level must maintain consistency under pressure while adapting their techniques to the demands of their respective classifications.
Kumar’s achievement also draws attention to the growing visibility of para-athletes and their contribution to India’s performance in international sporting competitions.
