Once known for administrative disorder and governance driven by narrow political interests, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a transformative shift since 2017 under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, according to an official communication from the Yogi Adityanath Office.

CM Yogi Adityanath Era in Uttar Pradesh

Before 2017, governance in the state was often associated with favoritism, social discrimination and systemic corruption. Welfare schemes failed to reach the poor, while pensions and scholarships were delayed or lost in bureaucratic corruption. The promise of social justice had, over time, turned into a tool of appeasement politics, pushing genuine beneficiaries and marginalized communities to the margins.

Rise of Social Justice, Public Welfare and Good Governance

The scenario changed significantly when CM Yogi Adityanath assumed office in 2017, marking the beginning of what the government describes as a new era of governance. By placing policy, discipline and justice at the centre of administration, the Chief Minister sought to redefine politics as a means of public service rather than power.

Today, the Uttar Pradesh government is increasingly being identified with people-centric governance, where public trust and accountability form the core of administration. From the very first day, CM Yogi Adityanath made it clear that the government would not function for any particular family, caste or group, but would work for the collective welfare of all 25 crore residents of the state.

Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” the double-engine government has focused on strengthening social justice, inclusive development and transparent governance. Officials say this approach has helped restore faith in the system and ensured that government schemes reach the intended beneficiaries without discrimination.

This marks Part 1 of a series highlighting the governance journey of Uttar Pradesh under CM Yogi Adityanath, focusing on reforms aimed at social equity, welfare delivery and administrative integrity.
