Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Chhath Mahaparv, calling it a festival of faith, tradition, and gratitude towards nature.

He said that the festival carries a profound message of respect and preservation for rivers and water bodies, emphasizing that “we are descendants of river civilizations; rivers are like our lifelines carrying the memories of water.”
Highlighting the state government’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated that since 2017, over 50 rivers have been revived in Uttar Pradesh. Rivers such as Noon in Kanpur, Chhoti Gandak in Deoria, Matuka in Varanasi, and Peeli in Jaunpur have witnessed renewed flow due to the government’s sustained efforts.
‘Ek Zila, Ek Nadi’
He added that under the ‘Ek Zila, Ek Nadi’ (One District, One River) initiative, the state government is continuously working towards river conservation. The ‘Gomti Rejuvenation Mission’, he said, aims to give a new life to the cultural heritage of the state.
Urging citizens to celebrate Chhath as a festival of public participation, CM Yogi called upon everyone to keep rivers and ghats clean, reminding that “if there are rivers, there is life; without rivers, there is nothing.”
He concluded by extending warm wishes to all residents of Uttar Pradesh on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Mahaparv.
