According to the state government, ₹301.19 crore has been approved to support the supply of Take Home Ration (THR) and to implement new systems that will improve nutrition delivery at Anganwadi centres.

With this initiative, Uttar Pradesh is set to become the first state in India to implement a recipe-based supplementary nutrition programme at Anganwadi centres.

The scheme will benefit children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, ensuring they receive balanced and nutritious food to improve overall health and reduce malnutrition.

To enhance transparency in the distribution of nutrition supplies, the government will also introduce a Face Recognition System (FRS) at Anganwadi centres. The system is expected to ensure that food distribution reaches the intended beneficiaries and reduces irregularities.

Officials said the approved funds will also support the viability gap funding required for the supply of high-quality Take Home Ration, helping ensure uninterrupted nutrition services for beneficiaries.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve maternal and child health indicators and strengthen the Anganwadi network through technology-driven monitoring and better nutrition planning.
